What was yor first tattoo and why did you choose to get it?

I’m only 59 years old. I am too young for a tattoo. Seriously, I have managed to live this long without one in spite of a 22 year military career. At this point I just can’t see any reason good enough to warrant the risk of a dirty needle. I know most artists are careful but it only takes one mistake and you have AIDS, Hepatitis or some other equally nasty disease.
If I make it to 100, I’ll think about it again.

I got my first tattoo at 25 years old. I decided to get my babies feet off their birth certificates on my back between my shoulder blades so that no matter where life takes me I will always have my babies with me

my first though is a vine of lillies going up my side

and the blossoming represents me
and i love lillies :]]
I got a small japanese love symbol on the base of my neck…me n my husband have it and I got it because i always wanted one and I thought it would be a good symbol of our love without havin to get each others names
My first tattoos I got are two outlined stars on the back of my calf’s (behind my legs).
They are fairly big and I got it because I like stars. ah ha
I don’t know, I was 16 and felt like getting tattoos.
I don’t regret them.. in fact, they are my favorite tattoos.
Out of those two I have a sleeve yet to be finished and others.
I got my first tattoo when I was 25. It’s the chinese charatures for the word “crazy”. I got it on my left ankle. It is all black, the artist that did it drew it up in such a way that it looks like it was painted on with a paintbrush. It’s very cool. Still looks like I just got it too…..as dark today as it was 8 years ago. Email me and I can send you a picture of it if you would like.
I drew my own first. It is a wave (ocean), a city skyline and a mountain - for all of the three places I have lived. Since then I have gotten a bunch more (not really counting because some morph into others, I have a full sleeve on my right arm). The thing that I love is that every one is a story about what is going on in my life. My skin is an open book about me, and I’m proud of the beautiful art I have.
For the guy that wrote he’s too worried about dirty needles, this isn’t 1950 (although some of my favorite tattoos were popular then). A vast majority of shops are clean - their business, livelihoods, reputation, and money depend on it. That’s not to say that there aren’t bad ones, because there are. Make sure inks are poured into individual one-use mini cups and that all needles and equipment has been sterelized in an autoclave (a machine that sterlizes to medical standards).
Just use common sense, and don’t do the old, “my friend bought a tattoo gun and can hook you up at his house for free.” Remember, you get what you pay for, and it goes to the grave with you so make it count! Good luck and love your ink!!!

my first was done about 4 weeks ago.
i got the FORD emblem with my son,nephews and dead sisters name and birthdate/date of death in a ribbon around the emblem.
i chose the ford emblem cuz i love my ford trucks and will always own one.my son,cuz hes my son.my nephews cuz im thier favorite uncle and i love them to death.and my sister cuz i never got to see her and my mom asked if id put her name in as well.
the reason i decided to do it?well i was an anti-tattoo person.i let that ruin a relationship.so i decided i needed to get over it and had to prove a few things to myself like i wouldnt catch a disease or something from it.my dad got HEP-C through a tattoo.
im glad i did it.i love it!!only thing i dont like is where i put it.its on my back.cant see it unless i look at a picture of it or in a mirror and then its backwards.but thats ok cuz the next one is going on the lower left of my stomach so i can see it.its gonna be the GP emblem off my car with my mom and dads names with thier date of births in a ribbon but im gonna leave it so when they die i can fill in thier date of deaths.
When I was 16 I got a butterfly that looks like its on fire and has eyes on its wings. I got on my lower back, it took over 3 hours. For your first one I would chose a small one to see how you handle the pain. The back really dosent hurt but the ankle is kinda tender.
